Melissa McCommon is a freelance artist with a Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design, a certified Copic instructor, and has over 10 years of experience as a professional freelance illustrator and comic creator.
Melissa has worked on a number of projects for companies, and most notably providing coloring assistance for the middle school aged graphic novels by Svetlana Chmakova, including the Eisner nominated “Awkward”, “Brave”, Eisner nominated “Crush”, “Diary”, and “The Weirn Books Vol. 1 Be Warry of the Silent Woods”. She gained local fame in 2019 when she created the mascots Rosie, Manny, and Adriane the cow for Vaca-Con; the first pop culture convention Melissa helped establish in her hometown of Vacaville, CA.
When not working on freelance, Melissa can be found working on her own projects, such as her webcomic “Epic Chaos!”, and her Patreon only autobiographical series “Confessions of a Comic Artist”. Besides her obsession with all things comics and art supplies, Melissa enjoys fruity teas, cats, and going to conventions.
She is a proud scale mom to a crested gecko named Pita, a ball python named Precious, and has recently gotten into collecting isopods.
